WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL SEARCH?
|
|
|
The key to a successful search is the partnership relationship between client company and
search firm. The more that can be shared about the position, hiring manager, department,
company culture and direction of the organization, the more targeted a search effort and
the more "on target" the slate of candidates. An ongoing dialogue between recruiter and
client is critical to a successful engagement. We are proud to say that over 50% of our
client relationships have been in existence for five years or more and encompasses
building strong management teams, not just a single position.
|
Another element common in organizations that are successful at hiring more than their
fair share of top talent are those where the CEO is the top recruiter for the organization.
By that we mean recruiting is a core strategic initiative and considered an important
aspect of the role of senior management on a day-to-day basis. A timely and effective
interview and selection process are all essential components to a successful recruiting
effort. Let's face it, in today's rapid-paced business environment, clients and candidates
alike can use the excuse that there is no time to interview. We contend that if an
organization's upper ranks do not make the time to conduct meaningful interviews and
evaluations, the competition will.
|
Candidate diversity is also a factor we see in successful organizations. Hiring people
who think differently and come from diverse business and cultural backgrounds will
allow new ideas and business models into an existing organization, enabling innovation
and creativity to earmark an organization's success.
|
| Finally, in order for an organization to hire successfully, a competitive compensation is,
of course, necessary. The client and the search consultant must be in tune as negotiations
progress. Close communication and an open mind are needed by all parties and a little
creativity can go a long way in closing the right candidate.
